This is really going to sound awful, but I add about 1/2 can of beer to my homemade chicken soup. I don't know what it does, but I can tell when I don't have any in the house and have to do without.

Spagetti sauce:
This may not be a secret to everyone, but I've always added dark brown sugar to my spagetti sauce. I like the sweetness it gives to the spicy sauce and gives it a nice rich color.

I'm sure a lot of people do this, but I like to add a little baking soda and sugar when making tomato sauce. It sometimes tastes too acidic and that does the trick!

FOR MEATS:
Saz�n seasoning and Adobo seasoning. They are spanish seasonings available in the ethnic section of the grocery store. Goes with just about anything! Especially meat. Rub some of each dry on a steak with some cilantro and garlic $ lime juice before grilling.

I add a herb mix called "Spike" (the SECRET ingredient I learned about from the head chef at Disney World Orlando during a seminar)that make his steaks and chicken to die for. He uses it in a variety of dishes, it has so many different things in it.

I'm a vanilla person - only use Watkins - it's great and I use a lot of it. I double the amount in every recipe and for desserts always add it even if it doesn't call for it

cayenne pepper in mac&cheese. Not enough to taste, just a couple of dashes. It makes it taste cheesier. I found this out when making cheese crackers with a cookie press, it called for cayenne pepper. Really makes a huge difference.

MEXICAN FOOD:
I add a few generous dashes of cinnamon to the canned red enchilada sauce when making enchiladas.

I read this in Taste of Home a long time ago and use it all the time myself. I add garlic to my potato salad. It adds a wonderful taste and everyone loves it. No one knows the secret ingredient (until now lol).

Add 1-2 tbsp. mayonnaise to mashed potatoes. Much creamier & does not give flavor of mayonnaise at all.
