Roast in a 325 degrees F Conventional Oven on the Lowest Oven Rack – Roast about 20 minutes per pound if 8 to 10 pounds and about 15 minutes per pound for a larger bird.
Here are guidelines for roasting a turkey at 325F.
8 to 12-pound turkey
· unstuffed: 2 3/4 to 3 hours
· stuffed: 3 to 3 1/2 hours
12 to 14-pound turkey
· unstuffed: 3 to 3 3/4 hours
· stuffed: 3 1/2 to 4 hours
14 to 18-pound turkey
· unstuffed: 3 3/4 to 4 1/4 hours
· stuffed: 4 to 4 1/4 hours
18 to 20-pound turkey
· unstuffed: 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 hours
· stuffed: 4 1/4 to 4 3/4 hours
20 to 24-pound turkey
· unstuffed: 4 1/2 to 5 hours
· stuffed: 4 3/4 to 5 1/4 hours
Your turkey is done when a meat thermometer registers 180F when inserted deep in the thigh. Also, juices should be clear, not reddish pink, when thigh muscle is pierced deeply.
Let stand 20 minutes before carving.
