List of Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup flour
- 3 tbl sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup canned creamed corn
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
- Veg oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the creamed corn, milk, eggs and onion, stir until just combined.
- Fill a large pot with enough oil to reach a depth of 2 in. and heat over med-high heat until it registers 350 degrees. Working in batches, drop heaping spoonfuls of batter into the oil. Fry, turning occasionally after hush puppies rise to the top, until browned, about 5 minutes. transfer to paper towels to drain.
