    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 T. baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/3 cup safe margarine (e.g., Fleischmann's Unsalted sticks)
    • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
    • 3/4 cup water (or orange juice, if making orange rolls)
    • 1/4 cup safe margarine, melted
    • FILLING:
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
    • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    • FROSTING:
    • 2 T. safe margarine, softened
    • 1 t. vanilla (or half vanilla + half orange extract for orange rolls)
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • enough liquid (water, orange juice, rice milk) to thin frosting to spreading consistency


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

    2. In large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and margarine with pastry blender until it resembles course cornmeal. Stir in baking soda and raisins. Add water. Stir well.

    3. Roll dough to a 1/4-inch thick 10x12-inch rectangle. Brush with melted margarine. Set aside.

    4. In small bowl, combine filling ingredients. Sprinkle filling over dough.

    5. Roll as for jelly roll (starting at long end). Pinch ends together. Cut into 1-inch slices. Place flat on baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden. brown.

    6. While rolls are baking, mix frosting ingredients. Spread on hot rolls after they are removed from the oven.
