    • 3 Cups Flour
    • 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoons salt
    • 1 Cup unsalted soft butter
    • powdered sugar
    • 3oz unsweetened chocolate squares
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
    • 1/2 Cup crushed candy canes
    • 1 Cup sugar
    • 1 beaten egg
    • 1 Tablespoon milk


    Instructions


    1. Make Sugar Cookie Batter First:
    2. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt - set aside.
      Place butter and sugar in large bowl and beat until light in color.
    3. Add milk and egg and continue beating on low speed. Gradually add flour, beat until dough pulls away. Divide the dough in 1/2
    4. Add chocolate and vanilla extract to 1 of the halves. Incorporate with hands.
    5. Add egg yolk, peppermint extract and crushed candy cane to the other half. Cover both with plastic wrap and chill for 5 minutes.
    6. Roll out separately to 1/4 inch thick. Place the peppermint dough on top of the chocolate dough (on wax paper) and press together.
    7. Use wax paper underneath the dough to roll into a log shape. Wrap in wax paper and chill for 2 hours.
    8. Remove from fridge. Cut into 1/2 inch slices.
    9. Place 1 inch apart on greased sheet. Bake 12-13 minutes at 375 degrees. Let sit for 2 minutes, then move to a cooling rack. Makes 3 dozen
