    1 envelope (about 1 Tbs, 15 ml) unflavored gelatin
    1/2 cup (125 ml) cold water
    1 Tbs (15 ml) butter
    1 small onion, chopped
    1/2 lb (225 g) sliced mushrooms
    1 package (10 oz, 280 g) frozen green beans
    1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped walnuts
    1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped parsley
    1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
    1 Tbs (15 ml) lemon juice
    1 Tbs (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
    1 tsp (5 ml) hot sauce, or to taste
    1/4 tsp (1 ml) dried thyme
    A grating of fresh nutmeg
    Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

    Sprinkle the gelatin over the water in a small saucepan and allow to
    soak for 5 minutes. Heat over very low heat, stirring constantly,
    until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Set aside. Heat the
    butter in a large skillet over moderate heat and saute the onion and
    mushrooms until tender but not browned, about 5 minutes. Add the
    green beans and cook for 5 minutes. Combine the cooked vegetables,
    gelatin, and remaining ingredients in an electric blender or food
    processor and process until pureed. Pour into a 3-cup (750 ml) mold
    and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Unmold and serve with crackers.
    Serves 6 to 8.
