French Onion Soup

List of Ingredients
4 large onions, sliced
3 Tbs (45 ml) butter, melted
3 Tbs (45 ml) all-purpose flour
1 Tbs (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
4 cans (15 oz, 425 g each) beef stock
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Cheese croutons (see below)
6-8 1-inch (2 cm) slices of French bread
1 cup (250 ml) shredded Swiss or mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup (60 ml) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Recipe
Place the onions and butter in a slow cooker and cook on high heat
until the onions begin to brown, 30 to 45 minutes. Stir in the flour
followed by the remaining ingredients and cook covered on low until
the onions are very tender, 3 to 4 hours. Ladle into serving bowls
and top with cheese croutons. Serves 6 to 8.
Place the bread on a baking sheet and sprinkle with the cheeses.
Broil under a preheated broiler until the cheese is lightly browned
and bubbling. Serves 6 to 8.
