    Buttermilk Biscuits

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 c. flour
    • 4 tsp. baking powder
    • 2 tsp. sugar
    • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/2 c. shortening
    • 3/4 c. buttermilk


    Instructions


    1. Stir together first 6 ingredients; cut in shortening, add buttermilk. Stir just until dough clings together. Gently knead on floured surface 10-12 strokes.

    2. Roll to 1/2" thickness, cut with 2 1/2" cutter. Bake at 450 degrees on ungreased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes. Serve warm.

    3. Makes 10-12 biscuits.
