Spaghetti Sauce

List of Ingredients
- 1 - 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 3 - 6 oz. cans tomato paste
- 1 - 16 oz. can tomato sauce
- 2-3 c. hot water
- 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. basil
- 1/4-1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
- 1/8 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 - 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 - 1 1/2 lb. mild Italian sausages
- 1 lg. onion, diced
- 2-3 cloves garlic, diced
- 1 lg. bell pepper, diced
- 4 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced or quartered
Instructions
- In large pan, combine first 10 ingredients. Allow to simmer for at least an hour.
- In frying pan, brown ground beef. Add sausages which have been cut into bite-sized pieces, ground beef and vegetables to tomato mixture. Allow to simmer an additional 1-2 hours. Serve over spaghetti noodles.
Final Comments
I use this same sauce when making Lasagna, except that I use ground Italian sausage and brown it with the ground beef.
