    List of Ingredients


    • 1 egg, well beaten
    • 1 c. Raisin Bran*
    • 2 c. white flour
    • 1/2 c. sugar
    • 1 c. sour milk
    • 2 Tbsp. melted shortening
    • 1/4 c. molasses
    • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1 Tbsp. baking powder


    Instructions


    1. *May use 1 c. 100% Bran Flakes and 1/2-3/4 c. raisins in place of the Raisin Bran.
    2. Combine molasses, shortening, sugar, bran, raisins, egg, and milk. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Combine with the first mixture. Beat well.
    3. Pour into well-oiled loaf pan. Bake in moderate (375° F) oven for 45 minutes-1 hour or until tests done.
    4. Makes one loaf.


    Final Comments


    To make sour milk: Add milk to 1 Tbsp. lemon juice or vinegar.
