Gingersnaps
List of Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2/3 c. hot coffee
- 2/3 c. molasses
- 5 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
- Cream together shortening and sugar. Add coffee to molasses and then add to the creamed mixture.
- Add sifted dry ingredients to the liquid mixture.
- Chill thoroughly. Roll into 1" balls; roll in sugar. Flatten to about 1/8" thickness with bottom of glass. Bake at 350^ for about 17 minutes.
- Makes approximately 14 dozen, 2" cookies.
