    Chicken a la King


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 c. cooked chicken
    • 2 Tbsp. shortening
    • 1/4 c. onion, chopped
    • 1/4 c. green bell pepper, chopped
    • 1/4 c. celery, chopped
    • 1/4 c. mushrooms, sliced
    • Dash each salt and pepper
    • 1 Tbsp. butter
    • 1 Tbsp. flour
    • 1 1/2 c. milk
    • 2 Tbsp. pimento, shopped
    • 1 Tbsp. fresh or 1 tsp. dried parsley


    Instructions


    1. In large skillet, melt shortening and saute onion, pepper, celery and mushrooms until tender. Remove from pan.

    2. Melt butter in pan and add flour to make a paste; gradually add milk and cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Add salt and pepper.

    3. Add chicken, sauteed vegetables, pimento, and parsley. Reduce heat and heat through. Serve over rice.
