    Coney Island Hot Dog Sauce

    Source of Recipe

    Marilee
1 large onion - finely chopped
1 1/2 lbs. lean ground beef.
    32 ozs. tomato puree
2 tsp. mustard (yellow, prepared, such as French's)
    1 cup light brown sugar
    2 T. apple cider vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
    1 tsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper

In a large skillet, lightly brown ground beef and onions. Break up ground beef as fine as possible.

Drain off fat. In a large saucepan, combine all remaining ingredients and cook over med-low heat about 10 to 15 minutes. Add beef & onions.

Stir, then simmer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, occasionally. Or add all ingredients to crockpot set on low for same amount of time. Sauce will thicken.

Serve over your favorite brand of grilled or cooked hot dogs with finely chopped onions, mustard or other condiments.
