    Pear Bread

    A wonderful quick bread to use pears from our tree.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    • 1 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
    • 1/4 cup plain yogurt or buttermilk
    • 1 cup coursely chopped, peeled pears
    • 1 tsp. vanilla


    Instructions


    1. In a large bowl cream together the butter, sugar and eggs.
    2. Measure and mix the dry ingredients in another bowl.
    3. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the yogurt (or buttermilk) to the butter mixture.
    4. Fold in the pears and vanilla.
    5. Pour into greased 9x5" loaf pan and bake one hour in a preheated 350 degree oven.


    Final Comments


    To keep chopped pears white, sprinkle with a small amount of citrus juice (lemon, orange, pineapple) after chopping. Stir lightly.
