1 cup sugar,1/2 cup shortening,4 eggs,1 teas.vanilla,1/2 teas.salt,1 small can hersheys choc.syrup,1 cup plus 1 Tbles.flour,1/2 cup nuts(opt.).

Cream sugar,shortening.Add eggs.Add vanilla,salt,syrup,flour,mix by hand(batter will be slightly lumpy.Stir in nuts.Pour into greased pan.Bake 350* 25-30 mins. Frost if desired;1 1/2 cups sugar,6 Tbles.milk,6 Tbles.butter;heat to a boil,remove from heat,add 1 teas.vanilla,1/2 cupchoc.chips.Blend till smooth,Pour over hot brownies,spinkle with finely chopped nuts,cool,cut in bars.
