1 16oz.bag split peas,2 meaty smoked ham hocks,4 1/2 cups water,1 can chicken broth,1 cup chopped fine celery,1 cup shredded carrots,1 onion chopped fine,1 teas.minced garlic,butter,salt,pepper,season salt,milk.

Wash peas,sort.In lrg.pot put peas,hocks,water.Cook down 45 mins.-1 hr.Add celery,onion,carrots,garlic,broth,butter,salt,pepper,season salt.Cook 1/2 hour.Thin finished soup with milk to desired thickness,heat thru.(for a change of pace,add small,cooked pieses of broccoli).
