Recipe Introduction
I created this recipe in 1975 to have something good to eat as a Boy Scout. This is a recipe I have used in restaurants, and have people say they would like to be able to cook such a complex dessert. Cook this one in an oven, in a dutch oven, or an Outback Oven. ***** This dessert has fans because it has four different textures. At the bottom you havepeaches that are soft and gooey. Surrounding the peaches, a soft cake. Where you poke apeach through the batter, a sticky syrup bubbles up. Last but not least, a carmelizedcrunchy top. This is best topped with homemade ice cream you made in a ziplock. *****Since then, I have taught it across the USA and abroad, to a wide range ofdelinquents. I get people telling me about variations, and fruit options that work anddon't work all the time. If you have any variations, let me know by clicking on the emailat the top right of the page.

Difficulty: Simple.
Directions
Oven temperature: 350 degrees
1. Preheat oven.
2. Pour cake mix into baking pan.
3. Drain juice off of peaches into baking pan and mix into batter.
4. Pour peaches into batter. Push most to the bottom, but have a few peaches poke through the batter.
5. Sprinkle a heavy coat of sugar completely on batter.
6. Cut butter into small thin shavings. Sprinkle all over the top of the sugar.
7. Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
8. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Check at 30 minutes. Poke with a toothpick into the
cake to see if it comes out dry. Poke a peach and it will come out wet.
9. Let cool about 5 minutes, then serve with vanilla ice cream.
Serve with
Vanilla ice cream you made in a ziplock bag.
Variations
*Instead of using the peach juice, use a can of 7up or Squirt.
*Use cherry pie filling with a chocolate cake. You will need to dilute the pie filling with
juice, simple syrup, or 7up.
*When you use fresh fruit, you need to make a simple syrup. If the fruit is hard, cook it
till the fruit is semi soft in the simple syrup.
To make a simple syrup, mix water and sugar to the sweetness you desire. Bring to a
boil.
*Match the fruit to the cake for color and tastes that go together.
