    Source of Recipe

    Recipe Introduction

This is a demonstration recipe to show people how easy it is to cook. This great recipe makes it without sugar. The fruit juice makes a truer flavor. This is a fantastic way to have kids help you prepare lunch, and give them something to do. They can help you pick, peel with a potato peeler, and mash. All fun, quality time activities.

    List of Ingredients

    Tools

    Knife
    Cutting board
    Big pot with lid
    Potato masher

    Ingredients

    Apples
    Water
    Frozen apple juice concentrate
    Cinnamon

    Recipe

Serves: How ever much you make.
Time required: Prepare: 15 minutes Cook: 15 minutes
    Difficulty: Easy

    Directions

    1. Peel, core and section apples. Do enough for a meal, to can, or for a couple of meals.

    2. Put apples in pot. Fill half way up apples with water. Cover with lid. This will steam instead of boil.

NOTE: If you add sugar or apple juice to soften the apples, they will cook but never get soft. You will have crunchy applesauce. So if you cook another desert where you need to cook the fruit, but want it firm, cook it in a sugar water.

    3. Bring to a boil. Then reduce to medium heat. Cook till apples are soft.

    4. Stir every now and then to get the top to the bottom.

    5. If you need more water to keep it from burning, add a little at a time. You do not want to drain water off liquid at the end. That will take all your flavor and nutrients.

    6. If you have a soupy mix when apples are soft, turn heat to high and evaporate it off, stirring continuously.

    7. Take pot off heat. Add some apple juice and mash apples into the coarseness you like.

    8. Add more juice till it tastes right to you.

    9. Add cinnamon if you want.

    10. Serve cold or hot.

    Serve with

Pork chops, green salad, and hearty bread.

Cottage cheese, and garlic bread for a light lunch.

    Variations

    *Add some sugar.

    *Blend different types of apples.

*Use a blender instead of masher.

*Add some pears into the mix, for a different texture and flavor.

*Use food coloring to make different color applesauce. Put in a piping bag, or ziplock with a corner cut off, and make faces and designs for parties, or kids meals. Use it to draw a design on a plate, then place pork chops on top of it.
