    BBQ Pork

    Source of Recipe

    Submitted by Carol Arnold

    Recipe Introduction

I went to visit with my two Aunts, and suprise, suprise, we had something to eat. The BBQ is not from a grill, but from the sauce the meat cooks in. The sauce is used over rice, or thickened to go over mashed potatoes.

    List of Ingredients

    Tools

    Knife
    Cutting board
    13" x 9" baking pan
Lid for baking pan or aluminum foil
    Spoon
    Measuring cup
Measuring spoons, 1 Tsp, 1 Tbl
    Hot pad

    Optional: Crock pot

    Ingredients

    1 1/2 C Ketchup
    1 1/2 C Water
    2 Tsp Salt
    5 Tbs Brown sugar
    5 Tbs Lemon juice
    1 Medium Onion chopped fine
1 Small Green pepper chopped fine
Pork chops or any meat you want like chicken or seafood

    Recipe

Serves: Amount of meat you put in.
    Time required:
    *Prepare: 5 minutes.
*Cook: 45 minutes to 2 hours in oven, depending on how soft you want the meat.
    Difficulty: Simple.

    1. Preheat oven.
    2. Mix all ingredients in baking pan except meat.
    3. Put meat in sauce, covering completely with sauce.
    4. Use a lid, or cover with foil, and poke some holes to vent.
    5. Cook for 45 minutes, or till done, checking at 30 minutes.

    Serve with

Rice covered with sauce, or a thickened sauce over mashed potatoes, polenta, or cous cous. Include for a dinner a green vegetable like string beans, broccoli, or asparagus. Include a salad, and a hearty bread.

    Variations

    *Cook in a crock pot.

*Use a variety of meats and fish.

*Cook alot of vegetables, like potatoes, carrots, leaks, onion, cabbage, anything you like, in this sauce. Serve the vegetable and sauce over rice, mashed potatoes, polenta, or cous cous.

*Cook the meat you like, cut up into bite sized pieces. Then add vegetables you like in big pieces. Cook. Then thicken the sauce and serve it as a stew. Eat as stew or put stew over rice.
