Horchata - Mexican Rice Drink

Recipe Introduction
Horchata is a Mexican rice milk drink. Choose this over pop every time you eat Mexican food. When you make it, try using Mexican cinnamon and vanilla. It is sweeter and not so strong. You may want to use it on alot more of your recipes after you try it.

Large bowl
Large pot
Strainer
Blender
Measuring cup
Measuring spoons, 1/2 Tsp, 1 Tsp
Cheese cloth
Drink container with lid
Stirring spoon
Ingredients
1 1/2 C Rice
Water
4 C Milk
1/2 C Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla
1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
Recipe
Serves: 6 Cups
Time required: Prepare: 15 minutes Cook: 10 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Directions
1. Cover rice in bowl by 2 inches with boiled water overnight.
2. Drain rice.
3. Blend smooth 1/2 of rice with 2 C milk.
4. Pour into container.
5. Blend remaining rice and milk. Add to container.
6. Strain through cheesecloth into bowl.
7. Pour back into container and mix in remaining ingredients.
8. Refrigerate and serve cold.
Serve with
Anytime you are sitting out in the sun.
With a spicy hot meal.
Replace pop and other junk drinks with this.
Variations
*Add as much sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon as your tastes demand.
*Really try the Mexican cinnamon and vanilla. It is easy to get at health food stores. You will really like it.
