    Red Lobster's Batter-Fried Shrimp

    This is a very simple recipe, and lets you know you can get great recipes from restaurants and store products you use. Have the kids help you decide and look for recipes to get more enthusiastic eaters.

    List of Ingredients

    Tools

    Large bowl
    Spoon
    Measuring cup
    Measuring spoons, 1/4 Tsp, 1/2 Tsp, 3/4 Tsp
    Fork
    Slotted metal spoon
    Deep fryer or heavy guage pan
    Cooking thermometer
    Paper towels



    Ingredients

    1 1/2 lb Shrimp, peeled & deveined
    1/2 C Oil
    1 Egg, beaten
    1 C Flour
    1/2 C Milk
    1/2 Tsp Baking powder
    3/4 Tsp Seasoned salt
    1/4 Tsp Salt
    Oil for deep frying


    Recipe

    Serves: 6
    Time required: Prepare: 15 minutes Cook: 15 minutes
    Difficulty: Average


    Directions

    1. Preheat oil to 350 degrees.

    2. Combine 1/2 C oil and egg; beat well. Add remaining ingredients except oil for frying and stir until well blended.

    3. Dip shrimp into batter to coat.

    4. Drop shrimp into hot oil and fry for 30-60 seconds or until golden brown.

    5. Remove with slotted spoon. Drain on paper towel.

    Serve with

    Rice dish, green salad, fresh fruit, and a smoothie.

    Pasta with a light sauce, fruit salad with yogurt, asparugus.

    Put on a hogie bun with tarter sauce, salad ingredients, and maybe a white cheese like mozarella, or provolone.


    Variations

    *Use different seasonings like lemon pepper, cayenne, cajun seasonings, citrus rinds, and anything you like.
