List of Ingredients
4 Egg Yolks
4 Tablespoons Caster Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Plain Flour
1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence
510 ml (17 fluid oz.) Milk
Recipe
1. In a large bowl, beat together the egg yolks and sugar until pale.
2. Stir in the flour and add three tablespoons of the milk. Bring the rest of the milk to the boil together with the vanilla essence.
3. Slowly pour the boiling hot milk into the egg yolk mixture, stirring constantly.
4. Transfer back to the saucepan and continue to whisk constantly over a low heat, until thickened. Serve hot or cold.
