½ cup softened butter
½ teaspoon grated lemon rind
4 teaspoons lemon juice
1¼ cups sifted confectioner's sugar
pinch of salt

Cream the butter. Stir in lemon rind and lemon juice. Blend in confectioner's sugar and salt. Chill. Serve a dollop as a topping for a hot steamed pudding, such as plum pudding or Christmas pudding.
