    List of Ingredients




    1 qt. oysters
    3/4 cups cold water
    4 cups scalded milk
    ¼ cup butter
    ½ teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon pepper

    Recipe



    Carefully pick over oysters, removing any bits of shells. Add water, and cook until oysters are plump and edges begin to curl. Remove oysters with a skimmer (slotted spoon), and add to milk.

    Strain oyster liquid. Add that, the butter, salt and pepper to the stew. If desired, you can add finely chipped green onions and a little minced parsley.
