    Cranberry Nut Bread

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup sugar
    2 cups all purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 orange rind, grated
    3/4 cup orange juice
    2 tablespoons shortening
    1 egg
    1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
    1 cup cranberries, halved

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 325° F. Grease a 9-inch loaf pan. Sift together the sugar, flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Add orange rind and juice; mix well. Blend in shortening. Add egg; mix well. Stir in nuts and cranberries. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 50-60 minutes. Let stand 24 hours before serving. (Bread can be frozen for several months.)
