David's Homemade Ice Cream

1 qt whole milk
4 eggs
2-1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp flour
2 cups heavy cream
1 5 oz. bottle vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground nutmegRecipe
Make a soft custard of the milk, eggs, flour, sugar and nutmeg. (Just bring to boil, do not let custard boil.) Set aside until cool.
Combine the vanilla, salt and custard mixture. Set in refrigerator until chilled.
Whip the cream until stiff and add to chilled mixture. Pour into 4 quart ice cream freezer canister. Use additional milk to bring mixture to canister FILL line. Place dasher in canister and cover. Freeze according to freezer directions.
Yield: 4 quarts
