    Bison Burgers

    Source of Recipe

    Joyce's original concoction

    Recipe Introduction

Bison, or Buffalo meat is high in nutrition and low in fat. It should be cooked slower and at lower heat than other meats. Cooking this meat at the same temps you would normally cook hamburger or sausage makes bison meat dry and tough. Cook slowly and at low to medium heat. Add in some other ingredients to make this a tasty alternative to other meats.

    List of Ingredients

    1 lb. ground bison meat
    1 t. Lowry's Seasoned Salt
    1 t. black pepper
    1/4 t. white pepper
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored and grated
1/2 slice white bread, crumbled and soaked in 2 T. milk
Optional: diced onions--about a hand full
If you like garlic, add about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, to suit your taste

    Recipe

Combine salt and peppers in a bowl and mix well. Add the meat, grated apple and soaked bread as well as any optional ingredients you wish to add. Mix all together well.
Form into the size patties that you wish.

Heat large skillet over medium heat. Add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of skillet. When the oil becomes hot, place patties in skillet and cook over low to medium heat until lightly browned on both sides.

If you wish to cook the meat to the well-done stage, add a little beef broth and let gently simmer another 10-20 minutes.
