PITTSBURGH KRAUT & BEER CAKE

2 1/4 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder 1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup shortening 3 eggs
1 1/4 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup cocoa 1 cup beer
1/2 to 2/3 cup sauerkraut, chopped, rinsed and drained. Recipe
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, vanilla, salt and cocoa. Sift flour, baking soda and baking powder.
Alternately add sifted ingredients nd beer to creamed mixture.
Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan 35 to 40 minutes at 375 degrees. A sour cream, mocha or cream cheese icing is optional.
