    List of Ingredients




    12 slices white bread crusts removed buttered with 2-3 T butter
    1/2 cup butter
    1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, trimmed & sliced and sauteed in butter (I used about 1 lb)
    2 cups thinly sliced yellow onion
    1 1/2 lb mild Italian sausage browned
    1 lb grated cheddar cheese

    Layer 6 slices bread, then 1/2 of the mushroom & onion mixture, then 1/2 of the italian sausage then 1/2 of cheese. Repeat layers
    Mix 5 eggs, 2 1/2 cups milk, 3 tsp dry mustand, 1 tsp ground nutmeg. Pour over top. Refrigerate overnight
    Bake uncovered in preheated 350 over for 1 hour or until bubbly. You can add 2 Tbls finely chopped fresh parsley to top before baking but I forgot that and it was delicious without.
