12 Layer Ribbon Salad

6 (3oz) boxes gelatin-any combination, green,yellow, red or orange; layer dark on bottom to lightest on top
1 (16oz) container sour cream

Chill a 9x13 inch glass baking dish for 2 hours. Use instructions for 1 box. Repeat for remaining boxes. Dissolve gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Divivde equally between 2 containers. Add 3 tablespoons cold water to first container with 1/2 gelatin. Pour into chilled baking dish and refrigerate for approximately 30 minutes. This is the first layer.
Add 1/3 cup sour cream, mixing well with whisk, to remaining container of gelatin. Layer over congealed first layer. Alternate layers until complete, allowing 20 to 30 minutes between layers.
This can also be prepared in glass compote dish for the holidays. I used a smaller bowl and only 3 boxes of jello.
