Iced Orange Cookies

Rhoda Ackels Orange Cookies
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons shortening
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 egg
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon finely shredded orange peel
2 tablespoons orange juice
Orange Icing
1. Stir together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside.
2. Beat together sugar, shortening, and butter. Add egg; beat till fluffy. Beat in buttermilk, peel and orange juice, Add dry ingredients; beat till combined.
3. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in 350� oven for 10 minutes, (Pay attention to baking time and don't go over or under). Remove; cool on racks.
4. Prepare Orange icing. Frost cookies. Makes about 30 cookies.
Orange Frosting: Beat together 2 cups sifted powder sugar, 2 teaspoons finely shredded orange peel, and 2 to 3 tablespoons orange juice to make a spreadable, thick frosting.
