Dough:
2 pkg. yeast (regular or fast rise)
1 cup warm water
1 tablespoon sugar
Mix above ingredients together until yeast and sugar are dissolved.
Add:
½ cup sugar
½ cup butter
3 eggs
2 teaspoons salt
Optional:
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon basil
Mix in 5 cups of flour—1 cup at a time until dough is of right consistency. Form into a ball in greased bowl, cover and let rise until double in size--then punch down.
Filling:
1 pound hamburger
½ pound sausage
1 onion
salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
Brown all of above until well done.
Add:
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1 pound bag shredded Swiss cheese
1 can drained sauerkraut
Roll out dough in size for bierocks—fill with hamburger mixture. Seal. Let rise. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Makes 18-20 medium size bierocks. Can freeze after baking and cooling.
