    Chocolate Nut Chews

    List of Ingredients




    1-1/2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup cocoa
    1/2 cup evaporated milk
    1/3 cup butter or margarine
    1/3 cup peanut butter
    1-1/2 cups quick-cooking oats -- uncooked
    1/2 cup pecans or walnuts -- chopped
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Recipe



    Combine sugar, cocoa, milk, and butter in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches a slow boil (mixture will bubble around sides). Cook 2 additional minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; add peanut butter, and stir until smooth. Stir in oats, pecans, and vanilla. Drop mixture by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Cool. Yield: about 4-1/2 dozen (27 servings).
