    My wonderful mother, who taught me the basics of cooking and baking, made this delicious dessert for a family gathering..... And of course I had to have the recipe!!!


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cans of apple pie filling
    • 1 lemon
    • 1 tsp. cinnamon, divided
    • 1 pkg. of plain yellow cake mix
    • 1 cup of chopped walnuts
    • 1 cup of melted butter


    Instructions


    1. Heat oven to 350. Spoon pie filling evenly into an ungreased 13x9" dish.
    2. Grate lemon rind, sprinkle over filling. Drizzle lemon juice over filling.
    3. Sprinkle with half the cinnamon. Pour dry cake mix evenly over the apple filling, reaching all sides.
    4. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon over cake.
    5. Sprinkle walnuts over top.
    6. Drizzle melted butter over all.
    7. Bake 25 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly and the walnuts have browned.
