APPLE WALNUT CRISP

Recipe Introduction
My wonderful mother, who taught me the basics of cooking and baking, made this delicious dessert for a family gathering..... And of course I had to have the recipe!!!
List of Ingredients
- 2 cans of apple pie filling
- 1 lemon
- 1 tsp. cinnamon, divided
- 1 pkg. of plain yellow cake mix
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts
- 1 cup of melted butter
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350. Spoon pie filling evenly into an ungreased 13x9" dish.
- Grate lemon rind, sprinkle over filling. Drizzle lemon juice over filling.
- Sprinkle with half the cinnamon. Pour dry cake mix evenly over the apple filling, reaching all sides.
- Sprinkle remaining 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon over cake.
- Sprinkle walnuts over top.
- Drizzle melted butter over all.
- Bake 25 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly and the walnuts have browned.
