OLD FASHIONED BREAD PUDDING

List of Ingredients
- 5 1/2 cups milk, divided
- 3 cups day-old bread cubes
- 5 large eggs, divided
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 TBS. butter, melted
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 3 TBS. all purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 13x9" baking dish.
- Heat 4 cups of milk in a medium saucepan just until bubbles form around edge of pan, about 7 minutes.
- Combine warm milk and bread cubes in a medium bowl. Let stand until cool.
- Whisk 3 eggs in a medium bowl. Stir in sugar, powder, and salt. Add bread mixture and mix well. Stir in butter and vanilla.
- Spoon bread mixture into prepared dish. Bake until set, about 1 hour.
- For sauce, combine brown sugar and flour in a medium saucepan. Stir in remaining milk and eggs. Cook over low heat, stirring continually until thickened. Drizzle over bread pudding in dessert bowls.
