Chive and Cheddar Biscuits
List of Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup grated cheddar or sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped fresh chives
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Recipe
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt.
With a pastry cutter, cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the cheese and chives. Add the milk and stir just until the mixture forms a soft dough that pulls from the sides of the bowl.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead to mix thoroughly.
Roll dough into a cylinder. Cut in 1-inch slices and place on a cookie sheet. Brush with melted butter. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
