    Molasses Crinkles

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    1 c vegetable shortening -- not oil
    3/4 c sugar
    1/4 c molasses
    1 egg
    1 3/4 c flour
    2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp ginger
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp powdered cloves

    Recipe




    Mix together shortening, sugar, molasses and egg.

    Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into first mixture and blend well. Shape into 1-inch balls with your fingers. (if dough is too soft to shape easily, cover and chill about 1 hour.) Dip tops in granulated sugar. Arrange on cookie sheet. Bake at 375F about 12 minutes. Makes 50 or more cookies.
