    Lemon Pound Cake

    List of Ingredients





    separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until peaks form, then fold into the batter before baking.

    1 cup butter, softened
    1/2 cup shortening
    3 cups sugar
    5 large eggs
    3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 cup milk
    2 tablespoons lemon flavoring
    For the glaze:
    1/2 stick butter or margarine
    1 cup powdered sugar
    Juice of half a lemon

    Recipe



    Cream butter and shortening. Beat in the sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add flour alternately with milk. Add lemon flavoring. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and place in a cold oven. Set oven temperature to 300 degrees and bake cake for 1 1/2 hours.

    To make the glaze, melt butter or margarine, then stir in sugar and lemon juice. Pour over cake while cake is warm.
