2 cucumbers, at least 7 inches long
1 teaspoon salt (divided)
3 tablespoons white vinegar (divided)
1 teaspoon sugar (divided)
8 ounces sour cream
1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 cup chopped dill
Fresh ground black pepper to taste

Peel the cucumbers and cut into thick slices. Place slices in a bowl and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and 1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar. Toss and let stand for 30 minutes. Pour off liquid before using.
Place the sour cream in a bowl and whisk until fluffy. Whisk in the green onions, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons of vinegar, the celery salt and dill.
Layer half the cucumbers on the bottom of a serving dish. Cover with half of the sour cream mixture. Add the remaining cucumbers and top with the remaining sour cream. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Chill before serving. Serves 4.
