    Marinara sauce

    Source of Recipe

    By Ron Mikulak

    Recipe Introduction

There are a lot of good bottled marinara sauces on grocery shelves. But if you want to work up your own, this is a fairly easy version.

    List of Ingredients

    1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
    2 tablespoons tomato paste
    1/4 cup olive oil
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1 minced garlic clove
    1 teaspoon basil
    1 teaspoon oregano
    1/2 teaspoon thyme
    Dash salt and pepper
1/4 to 1/3 cup beef broth, if available, or water

    Recipe

Combine ingredients in small saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer gently, uncovered, 10 minutes.

Note: Leftover tomato paste can be frozen. Place in ice cube tray in 1- or 2-tablespoon amounts. When frozen, pop out and freeze in plastic bag or container suitable for freezer.
