Wild Rice and Barley Soup Mix

List of Ingredients
1/2 cup barley
1/3 cup imitation bacon bits
1 pint canning jar
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon celery powder
1/4 cup beef bouillon granules
1/2 cup (4 ounces) wild rice (do not use a wild rice blend or white rice)
1/2 cup dried minced onion
Recipe
Place barley, then bacon bits in canning jar creating even layers. Combine brown sugar, basil, oregano, pepper, garlic and celery powder. Mix well and add to jar, spreading out and pressing flat to edges of jar.
Add bouillon granules and spread out evenly. Press down firmly.
Add wild rice then onion. Put lid on to and decorate as desired. Attach directions for making soup on the jar.
To make soup: Empty jar of soup mix into a large pan. Add 7 cups water and bring to a boil. Cover, lower heat to a simmer. Simmer, covered for 1 hour. Makes about 6 cups soup.
Note: This recipe is also good with a small can of sliced mushrooms (drained). They can be added at any point.
