Southern Chess Pie

List of Ingredients
- 1 pie crust (9-inch)
- 1-1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 2/3 cup butter, softened
- 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup currants, dried
- 3/4 cup nuts, chopped
- whipped cream
Instructions
- Prepare pie crust, refrigerate until ready to fill
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- In bowl, with electric mixer at medium speed beat sugar and butter until creamy
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each additon
- Stir in vanilla, currants and nuts
- Turn into unbaked pie shell
- Bake 40-50 minutes or just until filling is set in the center
- Shake pie gently, center should be firm
- Let cool on wire rack
