Serves: 1 to 2 people
List of Ingredients
1 Pita - split to make 2 rounds
1 oz. veggie burger or poultry
pinch garlic clove
1/4 c. tomato sauce
1/4 t. dried oregano leaves
3/4 oz. chedder cheese/mozzarella cheese (I use fat-free)
pinch salt
ground black pepper to taste
Recipe
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. Bake pitas by themselves 5-10 munutes until toasted. Leave oven on.
Meanwhile, spray a small non-stick skillet; add meat and garlic; cook over med-high heat, stirring to break up meat, 2-3 minutes (or until no longer pink if poultry used). Remove from heat, set aside.
Spread each toasted pita round with 2 T. tomato sauce. Sprinkle sauce with equal amount of oregano, then cheese; top cheese with equal amounts of beef, then sprinkle evenly with salt & pepper. Bake 5 minutes until cheese melted.
