Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

3 lbs Whole corned beef brisket with seasoning pack
2 Tbs White vinegar
1 Onion, cut into wedges
few cloves of garlic
8 small Potatoes,peeled,scrubbed and quartered
1 head Green cabbage, cored and cut into wedges
Topping-
1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup ketchup, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon mustard.
(these are approximate as I do not measure) please adjust to taste.
Recipe
1.Place corned beef, onion and garlic into crockpot half filled with cold water.
2.Cook on low for 8 hrs or until very tender.
3.Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
4.Remove corned beef and place in oven proof dish.
5.Mix topping ingredients and baste corned beef. Place in oven for 15 minutes.
6.Strain liquid from crockpot removing all solids.
7.Put liquid in large pot, add potatoes and cabbage and cook on stove top until potatoes and cabbage are tender.
