Recipe Introduction
This is great served over mashed potatoes,noodles or rice.
List of Ingredients
- 2 pound stewing beef
- 2 oz pork dripping
- 8 oz onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 beef stock cube
- 1 pint boiling water
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp dried marjoram
- 1/2 tsp caraway seed
- pinch of brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 pint red wine
- 1/4 pint sour cream
Instructions
- Cube beef. Heat dripping in a sauce pan.
- Add beef and fry till brown on both sides.
- Peel and chop onions and garlic,add to meat and cook till transparent.
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir mixture. Mix stock cubbe into boiling water and pour over meat.
- Season with salt and pepper,marjoram,caraway seed,pinch of brown sugar and paprika.
- Cover tightly and cook gently for 1 1/4 hours.
- Add wine and check seasoning. Bring to a simmering point and stir in sour cream.
