OLD FASHIONED POT ROAST

4 lbs. beef brisket
1½ cups water
2 onions, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 carrot, shredded
1 stalk celery, diced
1 green pepper, diced
2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 bay leaves
Recipe
Heat heavy pot and braise meat until browned on all sides. Remove meat from pot. Pour water into pot and heat to boiling. Scrape off browned bits from pot to form gravy. Return meat to pot. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer 1½ - 2 hours or until meat is tender. Slice meat thinly and serve with strained gravy.
