    A Fork in the Road - Cookbook from the Mimbres Region Arts Council in Silver City, New Mexico


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 Cup shortening
    • 1 Teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 Cup sugar
    • 1 Egg
    • 2 Squares melted chocolate
    • 1 Teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
    • 2 Cups flour
    • 3/4 Cup milk
    • Confectioners sugar
    • Peppermint Schnapps


    Instructions


    1. Cream shortening, vanilla and sugar. Add egg, chocolate, salt and flour. Gradually add milk.
    2. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 F. for 10-15 minutes or until firm.
    3. Frost with confectioners sugar mixed with peppermint Schnapps to drizzle consistency.
    4. Frost after cookes are cool.
    5. Makes approx. 24 cookies
