    Recipe Introduction

These sturdy cookies are not only delicious, but perfect for decorating and hanging on the tree (don't forget to make a hole to hang then by). Holiday guests can grab a cookie right off the tree.

    1/2 cup butter
    2/3 cup brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/3 cup molasses
    2 3/4 cups flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    2 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 tsp ground ginger
    1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

    Preheat oven to 375F.
Cream butter and brown sugar. Beat in egg
and molasses. Separately, combine remaining ingredients. Add to
butter mixture and blend well. Roll out dough on floured surface,
to 1/8" thick. Cut into shapes. Bake 6-8 minutes. Decorate as
    desired with frosting below.
    Makes approximately 2 dozen.

    Frosting

    1/3 cup butter
    2 cups confectioners' sugar; sifted
    1 Tbs milk
    1/2 tsp vanilla

Cream butter and gradually add confectioners sugar, milk and vanilla.
Beat until smooth. Fill pastry bag with frosting and decorate as
    desired.

Note: small decorating tips work best.
