Recipe Introduction
Also known as Greek shortbread.
1 lb sweet butter, softened to room temperature
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 ts. vanilla
2 tsp brandy
4 1/2 cups flour
1 cup blanched almonds or walnuts, finely chopped
Additional powdered sugar for dusting
Preheat oven to 350F.
Whip butter until light and fluffy. Slowly add powdered sugar, vanilla and brandy. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time. Fold in nuts. Shape tsp of dough into
balls or cresents. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 20
minutes. DO NOT BROWN. Sift additional powdered sugar onto
cookies, or roll cookies in sifted powdered sugar, while warm.
