    List of Ingredients

    Liver (or Tuna) Puffs
    Liver (or Tuna) Puffs

"These simple an tasty treats work well for dogs and cats. Most dogs
seem to prefer a liver flavor, while cats seem to enjoy tuna better.
You can use commercially prepared cat food for both of these. Also,
cats will require much smaller, (bite-size) cookies than dogs."

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 package unflavored gelatin
    1 package dry yeast
    1 cup nonfat dry milk
    1/4 cup very warm water
    1/4 cup corn oil
    1 egg
1 can (6 ounces) liver flavored cat food or canned tuna
1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees)

    Recipe

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

Add the warm water to a measuring cup, bowl, or small container.

Dissolve the yeast in the water, stirring briefly to mix.
Let this stand for about 5 minutes, undisturbed.

Add all of the dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl.

Stir well with a wooden spoon or other utensil to thoroughly
    blend these ingredients together.

After the yeast mixture has had a few minutes to sit, pour it into the dry ingredients.

Add the oil, egg, cat food and water.

Mix well, for several minutes, or until thoroughly combined.

As a dough begins to form, work with your hands to help make it soft and pliable, as the dough should be very stiff.

Knead for a few minutes inside the bowl.

Prepare a cookie sheet by greasing with margarine or oil, or
spray lightly with non-stick cooking spray.
Then drop the dough onto the prepared cookie sheets.

For cats, make very tiny cookies: Drop
by about 1/2 teaspoons, onto the cookie sheet. For dogs, make larger cookies, about a rounded tablespoon or a walnut sized ball.

Place the cookie sheet into the oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until golden.

Remove and allow to cool completely before serving.

Makes anywhere from 13 dozen puffs (for small cat sizes) to 3 dozen (for large dog sizes).

    Suitable for: Dogs or Cats
